There’s a serious lack of age-graded junior racing in our region and we are hoping to force a change. With UCI Worlds arriving at our doorstep next winter we should be doing more as a CX community to foster the next era of racing and holding more events geared toward younger riders.

To help solve this issue, we’re hosting a youth race in September – the first annual Rocky Hill CX Festival featuring KiddyCross to benefit the Rocky Hill Cooperative Nursery School in Rocky Hill, NJ. We’re still working on the exact location, but we’ll likely hold the race in either Hopewell or Rocky Hill, both of which are a short drive from Philly and NYC. The race will feature two courses: a short-track oval for kids under 10 and a standard CX course for all other categories. We’re also offering masters categories to keep the moms and dads happy, too.

If you’re new to CX, don’t despair – we’re hoping to have a fleet of demo bikes on hand for the day and will be holding beginner’s session before the racing gets underway to help you learn the basics.

Meet Mike De Bie

Mike De Bie, a 19-year-old from Heist-op-den-Berg, Antwerp, Belgium will be joining us as our European transplant rider this season. Mike began racing at the age of 11, competing in both road and cyclocross, and his entire family including two uncles and father are known for their racing prowess – He has memories of traveling to see their races as a boy and fell in love with the sport. At age 14 Mike, took 1st place in Paris-Roubaix and is also a 3X Gold Medalist in the Belgian National Time Trial Championships.

Mike says he loves all kinds of music, favorite movie is The Omen, and really enjoys watching films. His favorite professional cyclist is Fabian Cancellara. When asked what he hopes to remember about his visit in ten years, Mike stated, “In 2022 I will look back on my visit to America and I hope to have good memories about America.”

De Bie is excited to spend time in the USA and plans to travel the world to race, ride, and meet people from all cultures.

We are very excited to have Mike join the ranks of our squad and show our juniors a thing or two he’s learned from his father and uncles, including current Belgian National Team Director Rudy de Bie. Mike will arrive in time to race Whirlybird CX (Bryn Athn, PA) and will stay through the middle of November.

PCS Rides Fuji Bicycles for 2012-13

We are proud to announce our partnership with Fuji Bicycles for the 2012-13 season. Our riders will attack the MAC on the Fuji Cross series of framesets, all equipped with SRAM and Ritchey components and wheels from Revolution Wheelworks. We are very proud to have this Philadelphia-based sponsor join our roster and look forward to showcasing their bikes this season.
